Beyond the 40 Acres

These are Amateur Radio tales, interviews, stories, and biographies of some of the many University of Texas Amateur Radio Club members and alumni to take ham radio beyond the 40 Acres. UTARC members and alumni have employed their radio skills in times of war, taken ham radio abroad, made contesting history, and left a lasting legacy for the future hams of the University of Texas.

  1. George Washington Pierce
    George Washington Pierce graduated from UT Austin in 1893, and went on to found much of modern radio theory.
  2. Jim Headrick W3CP
    Jim Headrick W3CP attended UT Austin in the late 1930s, and has been an active ham since 1932.
  3. Zeke Harvey W5NFC
    Zeke Harvey W5NFC has been licensed for over 50 years, and active with the UT ham radio community since 1947.

    Stuart Rohre K5KVH reminisces about Malaysia and ham radio in his 1965-1967 tour with the Peace Corps.
