Swapfests

UTARC does not have the resources or the need to organize its own swapfest. There are numerous swapfests held in the Austin and central Texas area, however. In the past, UTARC has organized for particular hamfests, such as Austin Summerfest. This can include getting a table from which to sell surplus equipment the club wishes to liquidate. Club members could also share the use of the table to sell items they wish to get rid of. Such a table could also serve as a place for all club members to meet, as well as a convenient way to recruit potential members and invite local hams to visit the next club meeting. UTARC members in the past have also been known to use a designated 2M FM simplex frequency to act as ``spotters'' for one another during swapfests. While UTARC might not do this for every local area swapfest, if a sufficient number of members express interest, it is a definite option.
