Location and Access

ARC CS5 SW7 NSA CPE ETC RLM ECJ PAT WRW SER ENS ENS

The club station, located on the roof of the W. R. Woolrich Laboratories (WRW), is the most valuable resource available to club members. Regular members are allowed full access at any time day or night, provided the doors to WRW are not locked (this happens around 5PM or 6PM on some summer and between-semester weekends, and sometime after midnight most other nights.) WRW is located on the northeast corner of Speedway and 24th Street. The club station occupies half of the penthouse on the western side of the roof. The roof access stairway is on the east end of WRW. Access to the station is controlled through a lock box which contains the key to open both doors necessary to get into the club station. This lock box uses a combination lock, and the combination to the lock is given to all dues-paying members. The combination may be changed from semester to semester.

If you are driving to the club station, parking is available on 24th Street for any vehicle between 4:30 PM and 7:00 AM, Monday to Friday, and all day Saturday and Sunday. You can also park in the lot behind WRW during those hours, but pay attention to the signs. Some of the spots in that lot are designated for Graduate Student or Faculty permits only at all times, whereas others are available to anyone. Other close parking spaces are on Speedway, San Jacinto, and Dean Keeton Street. Between 7:00 AM and 4:30 PM Monday to Friday, unless you have a UT parking permit, your best bet is to park in the pay garage at 24th and San Jacinto, or park along one of the UT Shuttle Bus routes and ride the free shuttle into campus. If you do park on campus at any time, pay attention to the signage in order to avoid parking violations.

WRW has two bicycle racks in front of it that are usually not adequate during the peak times of the day, unfortunately. If you are bicycling to the club station, you should probably be aware of the intersection of 24th and Speedway. Occasionally, one or two UTPD bicycle officers will monitor the intersection and issue warnings or citations to any bicyclist who does not come to a complete stop at the intersection (a complete stop requires a foot on the pavement.) Look for them under the tree at the southwest corner of the intersection.
