Software Donations

de N5XU

Two companies have recently donated commercial software packages to the University of Texas Amateur Radio Club. Timewave Technology, Inc. donated a copy of PK Term 99, a terminal program designed specifically to operate with AEA line of TNC and multi-mode data controllers. Timewave recently acquired Advanced Electronics Applications's TNC business; AEA was the company that made the AEA PK-900 data controller that the club owns. This software is a trememndous improvement over the terminal software that the club had been using before.

Mike Cook AF9Y has donated a copy of his very popular FFT DSP software to the club. FFT DSP uses the computer's sound card to do a Fast Fourier Transform on the receiver audio, presenting the results in a continuously updating ``waterfall'' display. This software is extremely popular in the VHF Weak Signal and EME communities, and can actually identify signals before they are loud enough to be heard!

The club wishes to express its deepest appreciation to both donors for their generosity and vision in supporting the future of Amateur Radio at the University of Texas.
