Members on the Move

A friend of the UTARC, Jen Sims W5JEN recently upgraded her license class to General. Jen is former UTARC president Ken Harker WM5R's fiancee, and Jen has attended several meetings, even though she is not a student at U.T. Jen has plans to upgrade to Extra class in the near future.

UT Alumnus Dick Hanson K5AND is scheduled to be a member of the March, 2002 XR0X San Felix Island DXpedition. The San Felix and Ambrosio Islands are a DXCC entity in the southeast Pacific that belongs to Chile. It is rarely activated because most of San Felix Island is a Chilean naval base, and permission to operate there is difficulty to obtain. Dick was first licensed in 1953, and graduated from UT Austin in the early 1960's. He presently lives in the Atlanta, Georgia area, and has been very active in VHF/UHF weak signal activities.
