UTARC alumni James Brooks 9V1YC and Trey Garlough N5KO will be members of the DXpedition team travelling to Campbell I., and will be operating under the callsign ZL9CI. Trey is a last-minute addition to the crew, and is well-known for his operations as HC8N from the Galapagos Is. James is a world-famous DXpeditioner, operating most recently with the Temotu Is. H40AA and Heard I. VK0IR expeditions. James and Trey are both designated ``CW ops'' so look for them in the CW subbands on HF.
Campbell I. is in the south Pacific Ocean, and is a territory of New Zealand. Because of possible new access restriction being considered by the New Zealand Department of Conservation, this may be the last time for several years that Campbell I. will be on the air. Current anticipated dates for the operation are 9 January through 25 January, 1999. This DXpedition is featured in on p. 73 in the January, 1999 QST.
