New Toys!

de N5XU

The University Co-op Society has very generously donated $220 to the University of Texas Amateur Radio Club in order to purchase a new Yaesu FT-2600M 144-148 MHz FM transceiver for packet operations! The radio arrived just before the February meeting, and has been wired up and works great! This is the first brand-new commercially-built radio that the club has owned in at least a decade, and possibly since the 1920's! This brings the University Co-op Society's total contributions to the club for the 1999-2000 academic year up to $459.00!

Recently, Idiom Press made a very generous offer to support the University of Texas Amateur Radio Club with a $42 discount on a Logikey K-3 CW memory keyer for exclusive use at the club's on-campus station N5XU. This is the same design as the keyer that the club uses for its VHF radios (constructed from a kit,) and will be used with the HF radios at N5XU. Members of the club eagerly responded with pledged financial contributions to meet the cost of the keyer after the substantial discount. The club expresses its deepest appreciation to Idiom Press, and would like to recognize AA5BT, W5JLP, KB5LBN, N3TNN, KA5WSS, KD5JCC, and KG5RU for helping to make this happen!

The club wishes to express its deepest appreciation to both donors for their generosity and vision in supporting the future of Amateur Radio at the University of Texas.
