Alex VE3NEA has authored a software product called DX Atlas that is simply fantastic. The program can draw world maps in both Azimuth-Equidistant and Mercator (also known as rectangular) projections. The maps are fully interactive, and you can overlay all sorts of information on them: an actively-updating grey line, callsign prefixes, CQ zone boundaries, ITU zone boundaries, islands, city names, and more! The program also comes with a very complete indices of ham radio prefixes, islands, and cities. You can explore the prefix structure of a country, get information about how callsigns are allocated there, and in one click show where on the map those callsigns are assigned.
DX Atlas is a shareware program, but Alex VE3NEA very generously donated a free registration key to the club. The registered software is on the machines in the club station, available for members to use while operating at N5XU.
