Alumnus George K5TR has officially won the 1998 ARRL 10 Meter Contest, Single Operator Phone-only category. George's score of 923,214 points included 3,057 contacts with stations in 151 countries! George was operating from the W5KFT Ranch Station.
UTARC alumni Trey N5KO and James 9V1YC are prominently mentioned in the cover story of the July 1999 issue of QST. James and Trey were both members of the January, 1999 DXpedition to Campbell Island, a remote Antarctic island owned by New Zealand, where they operated with the callsign ZL9CI, and made over 96,000 contacts!
Ken KM5FA has had an article published in the July issue of CQ VHF. The article is a review of the Down East Microwave 222 MHz transverter that the club bought some time ago and Ken built. UTARC and N5XU are both prominently mentioned.
