The University of Texas Amateur Radio Club will be operating a special event station celebrating 80 years of Amateur Radio at the University of Texas. The station will be on the air from Saturday, 29 September 2001 through Sunday, 7 October 2001. The club will be signing a special callsign K5T, and will be available on all bands from 160 meters through 23 centimeters (except 33cm.)
Be sure to work K5T during the Texas QSO Party. The club will be entering the Multi-Operator, Single Transmitter (M/S) category, aiming to both get as many student operators involved as possible, as well as aiming to win the contest! The contest is 9AM to 9PM Texas local time on Saturday, 29 September, 2001.
The weekend of October 5-6 is W5 DX Bash. This annual event is held at the W5KFT Ranch Station on the shore of Lake Buchanan, about 70 miles NW of Austin. DXers from all around the fifth call district and many other parts of the world attend!
