Upcoming Activities

The ARRL June VHF QSO Party is the weekend of June 10-11. This is a fun contest - at the very least, get on 146.55 MHz FM simplex and make some contacts!

The ARRL Field Day is the weekend of June 24-25. There are no plans for a UTARC Field Day group. The Austin Amateur Radio Club, the Williamson County Amateur Radio Club, and the 3M Amateur Radio Club are all planning operations, though. All UTARC members are encouraged to contact one of these groups and join in on the fun!

The IARU HF World Championship is the weekend of July 8-9. This year, the World Radiosport Team Championship (WRTC) is being run concurrently with the IARU contest. UTARC alumnus Randy K5ZD will be representing the United States in WRTC 2000!

Austin Summerfest is the weekend of July 28-29. Summerfest is the premier Amateur Radio convention and swapfest for the greater Austin area. In addition to a large indoor swapfest, Summerfest has forums and presentations on DX, QRP, Satellites, Contesting, Antennas, Packet, FM repeaters, License Exams, and more!

The ARRL UHF Contest is the weekend of August 4-5. N5XU will probably put together a contest effort for this event, where we can now make QSOs on three bands!

The North American QSO Party, Phone is the weekend of August 19-20. This is a great contest for new contesters to get experience and try their hand at radiosport. If anyone is curious about contesting, please get in touch with Ken KM5FA at kharker@cs.utexas.edu.

The ARRL September VHF QSO Party is the weekend of September 8-9. N5XU routinely wins the South Texas section in this contest and frequently wins the West Gulf division and places well in the Midwest Region.
