N2000XU: A Fundraising Progress Report

de KM5FA

For the past year or so, the University of Texas Amateur Radio Club has been actively soliciting donations of money and equipment as part of our N2000XU Building a Station for the 21st Century fundraising campaign. We have had success unparalleled in the history of the club! I am very proud to say that many club members and alumni have come together to support ham radio at the University of Texas at Austin. Individual supporters include AA5BT, KT5I, K5PI, KM5FA, K5TR, W5JLP, KB5LBN, N3TNN, KA5WSS, N5CQ, N5TW, KD5JCC, KD5DYC, KB2CLL, WA5KA, AB5K, N5SNN, K0GEX, and N5KO. Corporate supporters have included the University Co-op Bookstore (with contributions totaling $459 this year!,) TR LOG contest logging software, WriteLog for Windows, FFT DSP by AF9Y, Timewave Technology, Inc., the National Contest Journal (NCJ), and Idiom Press. With these many gifts, the club has substantially improved N5XU's MF/HF and VHF/UHF stations. Together, these gifts have been worth almost $6,000.00.

There is much more that can be done, however. The two biggest goals remaining are to get N5XU a second tower, and to get N5XU on the 902 MHz (33 cm) band. These are both substantial projects, and will require considerable commitment from members, alumni, and friends of the University of Texas Amateur Radio Club. You can help! Support UTARC's mission to enrich the educational experience of the University through the exploration of radio communications, by contributing money or equipment to help build the club station. Take a moment to visit the N2000XU fundraising web pages at: http://www.utexas.edu/students/utarc/n2000xu/. Our goal is to establish Texas as the best equipped college Amateur Radio Club station in the world. We need your support!
