2001-2002 Officers

At the last general meeting of the 2000-2001 academic year, the University of Texas Amateur Radio Club elected new officers for the 2001-2002 academic year. Please welcome your new officers!

          President: Johanna Preston W5JLP
     Vice-President: Monique Stinson NE5RO
Secretary/Treasurer: Louisa Preston KB5LBN
  Newsletter Editor: Ken Harker WM5R

Johanna is a Plan II senior in Chemical Engineering. She holds an Extra class license and is active on the HF bands. She and her sister, Louisa, also a Chemical Engineering major, have both operated from Honduras in recent years, and have kept regular HF skeds with friends in France. Louisa holds a General class license. Monique is a Ph.D. graduate student in Civil Engineering, is active on HF, and holds an Extra class license. Ken is a Ph.D. graduate student in Computer Science, is an active contester and VHF weak signal operator, and also holds an Extra class license.

Johanna is only the second woman ever known to be president of the UTARC. According to historical records, Betty Jane Koivula (call unknown) was president of the club in 1967. A complete history of all club officers and members is available online at: http://www.utexas.edu/students/utarc/history/
