UTARC 2000 A New Amplifier for 222 MHz

In the winter of 1999-2000, the University of Texas Amateur Radio Club (UTARC) petitioned the University Co-op Society for funds to help purchase a new amplifier for the club station N5XU. The Universaity Co-op Society awarded the club the money, and an AM-6155 amplifier was purchased. Local supporter Terry Gerdes AB5K donated an Amphenol high-power transfer-relay and some jumper cables, with N connectors throughout. Former club president K5TR did the necessary modifications to tune up the amplifier on 222 MHz.

George K5TR is beginning to work on the amplifier. The transfer relay has not yet been mounted on the rear of the chassis.
George works on the RF cavity, a portion of the amplifier which is designed to pull out from the front panel, should a tube need to be replaced. He is holding a small flashlight, looking into the tube socket area.
The amplifier placed in the rack, ready for use. There are three fuse holders on the front chassis, and the large meter in the center can perform about ten different functions. The metal mesh screen is the area of air inflow.
