UTARC 2001 Satellite Station Mast
Fall, 2001, the club purchased a mast to use for a new satellite station.
The mast, as purchased and delivered, was 21' long. The length needed
for the satellite antennas was only 15'. We decided to cut it to length
on the ground after discovering that 21' was too long to work up the
stairs. In addition to these photos, view the movie.
All of these photos were taken by
Johanna Preston W5JLP.

About to saw.

I hope we measured correctly.

Cutting the mast took about 90 seconds.

Since the cut end of the mast wasn't weather-proofed, we
needed to store it inside until we were ready to install it.
|
 |
This took some creativity to make it fit inside.
|
 |
The mast fits, but just barely.
